3-Hour Puerto Escondido Whale Watching and Dolphin Tour

3-Hour Puerto Escondido Whale Watching and Dolphin Tour

Enjoy some time on the water and catch sights of Puerto Escondido’s migrating whales (in season), huge pods of dolphins, sea turtles, and other marine life during this 3-hour, Puerto Escondido whale watching and dolphin tour.

Various species of whales migrate through the area from November through March. Outside of these times, you can still see tons of marine life, but it’s unlikely you’ll see any whales.

Not a whole lot. You get:

  • a seat on the boat

  • a bilingual tour guide

Swimming with the dolphins in the wild is also included. The jellyfish were spawning during our tour, so our boat captain advised against getting in.

What to Bring for the Puerto Escondido Whale Watching and Dolphin Tour?

There isn’t much provided on this tour other than the boat and the guide. Some things we brought along on our trip that you may want to consider are:

  • Dramamine – If you or the kids are prone to seasickness, they sell Dramamine at nearly every store near Playa Principal. It’s pronounced the same in Spanish as it is in English. We’re each prone to seasickness, so we each took one tablet 30 minutes before the tour and had zero problems.
  • Hat – The sun is no joke, and you’re going to be staring out at the water all morning. A hat will shade both your head and eyes so that you can enjoy your tour.
  • Sunscreen – Again, the sun out there is no joke.
  • Water – A three-hour tour without food or snacks is doable. Without water, it’s miserable.
  • Camera – We saw tons of dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and eagle rays on our trip. You’ll definitely want your camera to capture all of the marine life.
  • Waterproof Bag – You may get wet during the boat trip. We brought along a ziplock gallon baggie for our phones.
